Improving Employment Opportunities for MBA Class of 2010

Posted: Jan 19, 2011

A recent survey conducted by GMAC shows that 9/10 of 2010 MBA graduates received employment; up from 84% in 2009. According to the latest GMAC Alumni Perspectives Survey, these 2010 MBA graduates also received higher starting salaries (median US$78,820).

Dave Wilson, president and CEO of GMAC, states how the MBA has become even more vital to helping MBA graduates survive and thrive in the current “unprecedented economic environment” effecting the global business world. The clear inference is how key the GMAT now is, not only to the business schools, but also to the CV of business professionals and MBA applicants. Almost 75% of those surveyed stated they could not be where they are today without their MBA.

The survey results indicate that today’s business school graduates are faring better than their counterparts did following the last recession. For example, just 72% of participants in the 2003 GMAC Alumni Perspectives Survey were employed after graduation, compared with 88% this year.

GMAC Alumni Perspectives Survey:
- Conducted in - September 2010
- Number of MBA alumni surveyed (class of 2010) – 824
- Number of business schools (globally) included in survey - 126
